The postcode for this event is GL56 9AA. NOW 100 ACRES AVAILABLE!!!
We are off the main road out of Moreton, past the garden centre Signs will be out..
Many of our members have enjoyed detecting on the land we have around Moreton in Marsh and there’s a lot of history surrounding the town. The Church of England parish church of Saint David began as a chapel of ease for Blockley, to which the residents of Moreton had to transport their dead for burial. The early history of the church in Moreton is not clear, but there is evidence that a primitive Celtic place of worship preceded the church on the present site, which had seven springs. In addition, it lies on the Fosseway and we have always managed to drag something of a Roman nature up here. This dig is on New land near to the farm which we have previously never visited so we are into the unknown………….
60 acres of barley stubble will be available and due to the acreage, we have to limit numbers to 70, so if you would like to attend, please register quickly as the last dig here, which produced some excellent finds including gold, silver and bronze, was heavily oversubscribed and a few were disappointed at not being able to attend.
Some of the finds from a few months ago along with a fair few hammered
Please register below, if you find you are unable to attend at a later stage, please ensure you remove your name or let a member of the team know. Failure to do so will result in you not being allowed to attend future digs unless payment is made in full prior.
This event will start with a briefing at 08:25 and detecting at 08:30.
